Heroes 4 Helen

Helen is a parent at Queenswell Greek School, she was diagnosed with a very serious brain tumour called Anaplastic Astrocytoma. When diagnosed it shattered their life’s. Helen underwent a brain operation to insert internal cerebral shunts because of swelling of the brain caused by excess build of cerebrospinal fluid. Her husband Sotiri started this appeal to give Helen treatment which they believe is a potential lifesaving treatment in America, which financially is way out of their reach. Unfortunately these treatments are not available via the NHS so they have to pay for them. The cost is approximately £135,000 per year and most patients will require anything from 12 to 18 months treatment. Although this is a large amount of money, we believe you cannot put a price on saving a life, especially that of a young mum with a 5 year old son. We hope and pray that through fundraising and generosity we will be able to achieve their dream to raise enough money to give Helen this lifesaving treatment and beat this awful condition, giving her the chance to see our son Johnathan grow up.
